CAUTION: Hungry Book Addict!

I am excited to announce a new segment on my blog starting next Thursday. My daughter, Savannah, and I have reached an agreement. I will continue to feed and clothe her…uh, I mean I will continue to buy her books to feed her insatiable appetite for reading and she has agreed to write a review once a week.  Fair warning, she doesn’t always read mainstream fiction and rarely spends more than 2.99 on a kindle book. (Though I have a feeling the price may have gone up with this agreement.) Don’t get me wrong, she doesn’t like to read “junk” but once she begins a book, she is committed to finish. So, fair warning #2, we will get a little bit of the good, the bad, and the ugly.

With that being said, I think this would be a good time to tell you a few things about her. Savannah is 15 years old and will be starting her junior year of high school in the fall. She is in no hurry to drive but she loves classic muscle cars like Mustangs and GTO’s. She spends a lot of time trying to convince Mom and Dad that she would look really good in a Hundai Veloster but has resided herself to the fact that the 1997 Rav 4 her brother has been driving will be her first car. She is Team Edward but thinks Jacob is hot. And though she still likes the Twilight Saga, the posters in her bedroom have been replaced by Justin Bieber.

She loves chocolate covered strawberries, dark chocolate, and her new fave is chocolate covered raisins. (Chocolate being the key ingredient.) Soccer has been her chosen sport and she has been playing since the age of 5 but never had the desire to join a competitive team. Savannah is an incredible sketch artist and a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to drawing eyes. Her new-found hobby is creating life-like baby dolls that when done by a professional, sells for $350 or more. She likes hanging out with her friends, listening to music, watching movies, and reading books.

So, how does this make Savannah a good book reviewer? I write YA fiction, she reads YA fiction, and she is well…a young adult.  She has more than 200 books on her kindle and yes, she has read every one of them. She discovered Twilight, Hunger Games, and Vampire Diaries (just to name a few) before they were BIG and she is not afraid to take a chance on a new author. Her usual genre is Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Dystopian, Paranormal, and Romance novels and the longer, the better. She doesn’t like to read books with excessive cursing, teen sex (though some romance or love interest is a must), or clique books. Happy endings are okay but the protagonist (main character) needs to be in peril for more than a page or two.

If these are the kinds of books you or your teen likes to read, please join us on Thursday’s for CAUTION: Hungry Book Addict!

Happy Reading!
